About the role#
Storion Energy is hiring a Chemical Engineer Co-Op to work on product development for Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers on electrochemistry projects. This is a full-time, paid position offering $25 per hour. You will be expected to work on-site 5 days per week in Billerica, Massachusetts.
What you'll do#
- Support product development, including performance investigation of VRFB cells and stacks.
- Operate scale, sub-scale, and full-scale equipment and machinery.
- Develop chemical process designs, controls, and operations.
- Collect, process, and analyze technical data.
- Develop statistical process controls and test methods.
- Perform hands-on testing in the electrochemical lab and on the shop floor.
- Conduct root cause analysis and material compatibility testing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Chemical Engineering or a BA/BS program for Chemistry.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to lift 30-pound boxes of parts.
- Willingness to work with battery electrolyte, which requires wearing PPE including lab coats, gloves, and safety glasses.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Reliable personal transportation, as public transit is not available to the office.
