About the role#
Stored Energy Systems (SENS) is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to help us develop automated tests for our power conversion products. You will work with our engineering team to verify hardware and firmware functionality, expand our test coverage, and identify issues in our battery chargers and DC power systems. This position is based in Longmont, Colorado, and requires 10 to 20 hours of work per week during the school year.
What you'll do#
- Write, debug, and maintain C# automated tests within our internal framework.
- Convert product requirements and test procedures into repeatable tests with clear pass/fail criteria.
- Develop test code that communicates with SENS hardware and lab instruments to control test sequences and collect measurements.
- Document test results, measurements, and diagnostic information to assist with troubleshooting.
- Run automated tests and collaborate with electrical, firmware, and software engineers to investigate failures.
- Use version control and code reviews to maintain readable, reusable test code.
- Assist with lab setup and test fixtures while following electrical safety procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Programming experience from coursework or projects, specifically with an object-oriented language.
- Interest in testing physical hardware, electrical measurements, device communication, and troubleshooting.
- A methodical approach to problem solving and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with other engineers.
- Preferred experience includes .NET, C#, Visual Studio, Git, automated testing, or lab instruments.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, serial, USB, or Ethernet is a plus.

- Location: Longmont, CO (On-site).
- Compensation: $25 per hour.
- Schedule: 10 to 20 hours per week during the school year.
