About the role#
This internship offers a mix of office-based engineering tasks and hands-on industrial experience at the Sinton Flat Roll Division. You will work directly with operators and maintenance teams on the production floor. This setup allows you to apply engineering principles to real equipment, design solutions, and test them in an active manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Support safety initiatives by assisting with labeling, schematic reviews, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Participate in upgrade and installation projects by reviewing diagrams, updating schematics, and managing system documentation.
- Contribute to instrumentation and control projects, including HMI programming, logic development, and monitoring systems.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, sourcing replacement parts, and helping with system restoration.
- Manage inventory by cataloging materials, preparing bills of materials, and supporting procurement planning.
- Shadow electricians during maintenance and installations to gain field experience.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors on process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- A GPA of at least 2.7 is preferred.
- Coursework or experience in electrical machinery, power distribution, PLCs, automation systems, or power electronics and drives.
