About the role#
The Utah Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an intern to assist with the National Core Indicator (NCI) program. This role focuses on gathering data to support public programs through surveys and research. You will work with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, along with their families and guardians. This is a 9-month position designed to help students meet degree or certification requirements through hands-on community experience.
What you'll do#
- Schedule and conduct NCI surveys through in-person meetings or virtual calls.
- Contact participants and their families to explain the survey process and answer questions.
- Travel throughout the State of Utah to conduct interviews.
- Arrive at all appointments on time and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Document survey data accurately in the online management system.
- Perform research tasks using computer software to gather information.
- Summarize data using analysis tools and produce reports.
- Complete all required instrument-specific training.
What you'll need#
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to listen well.
- Access to reliable transportation and consistent internet service.
- Proficiency in using the internet and computer software for research and document production.
- A self-motivated approach and the ability to manage a flexible schedule.
- Preferred: Experience with survey administration, data analysis tools, or research projects.
- Majors: Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Health Administration, or Business Administration.
