Survey Assistant – Summer 2026 Student (Community Development) - 4 or 8 Month Term

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid student opportunity based in Edmonton, Alberta, for a 4 or 8-month term starting in the summer of 2026. You will join the Geospatial Group to assist with surveying and mapping services for various community development projects, including site grading, roadway construction, and utility layout.

What you'll do#

• Perform construction surveys using GNSS (GPS), electronic total stations, and conventional survey equipment.
• Assist a crew chief with layout for site grading, water-mains, storm and sanitary sewers, lot services, and shallow utilities.
• Transfer survey data to designated folder locations.
• Safely operate tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with team members and adhere to standard operating procedures.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited Canadian Geomatics or Civil program.
• Technical and mathematical proficiency.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to arrange transportation to work sites.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Basic knowledge of CAD standards and familiarity with Trimble survey equipment are considered assets.
• Requirement to provide your own safety footwear and appropriate clothing; specific safety gear like vests and hard hats will be provided.
