As an Interior Designer Intern, you will work alongside experienced practitioners to translate client needs and architectural direction into cohesive interior design solutions. You will be an integral part of the project team, contributing to space planning, material selection, and documentation while gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment. This role requires the ability to present ideas in formal and informal settings and a willingness to respond to constructive feedback.
What you'll do#
- Interpret sketches, drawings, codes, and program materials.
- Support the project team in developing interior design documentation and presentation materials.
- Assist in design development through sketches, physical and electronic models, diagrams, and massing studies.
- Utilize BIM technologies to create three-dimensional models of buildings and components.
- Research concepts, benchmarks, materials, typology, and precedents.
- Assist with material and furniture selections, space planning, and communication with product representatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in the 3rd year of an Interior Design bachelor’s degree program.
- Availability for a 4 or 8-month internship term starting in Fall 2026.
- Basic understanding of Revit as a design tool.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts effectively.
- Experience with design software such as Sketch-up, Photoshop, and Illustrator is preferred.
- A portfolio of work must be submitted with your application.
