Mechanical Engineering Student - Buildings (Fall 2026)

About the role#

This is an 8 to 12-month internship position for a Mechanical Engineering student based in Vancouver. You will join the Buildings group, working alongside experienced practitioners to assist in the design and development of mechanical systems for various projects.

What you'll do#

• Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
• Produce mechanical design elements using REVIT and AutoCAD.
• Assist in the design of building-related mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Review equipment selections and perform preliminary engineering calculations and designs.
• Facilitate and ensure the quality of project deliverables.
• Review shop drawings and contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.
• Perform field surveys for drawing development and site reviews.

What you'll need#

• Currently working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering at a Canadian university.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD software.
• Understanding of or experience with building mechanical systems.
• Prior experience in the construction industry.
• Familiarity with National and Alberta Building Codes, as well as LEED standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative approach.
• Ability to pass government security clearance in Canada.
