Survey Assistant – Summer 2026 Student (Community Development)

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid Summer 2026 internship opportunity within the Geospatial Group in Edmonton. The role focuses on supporting construction survey projects and land boundary definition. You will work in a team environment, splitting time between field work in various weather conditions and office-based data management.

What you'll do#

• Perform construction surveys using GNSS (GPS), electronic total stations, and conventional survey equipment.
• Assist a crew chief with layout for site grading, water-mains, storm and sanitary sewers, lot services, roadways, and shallow utilities.
• Transfer survey data to designated folder locations.
• Maintain and safely operate survey tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with the team and adhere to established procedures.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited Canadian Geomatics or Civil Engineering program.
• Availability for a 4 to 8-month term.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Strong technical and mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an outdoor environment and work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Basic knowledge of CAD standards and familiarity with Trimble survey equipment are considered assets.
• Ability to provide your own safety footwear and appropriate clothing for field work.
