About the role#
Stantec is seeking a motivated student to support the delivery of transportation planning and traffic engineering projects. This 4-8 month internship provides hands-on experience in project execution, including planning and design, while developing core technical competencies in the transportation sector. You will work alongside experienced practitioners on a variety of community-focused projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist in collecting and analyzing transportation-related data, such as traffic counts, collision records, and transit information.
- Conduct traffic operations and safety analysis, including intersection performance and site-specific assessments.
- Support traffic engineering tasks, including sightline assessments, capacity analysis, and signal timing reviews.
- Contribute to transportation planning and impact assessment projects.
- Prepare figures, maps, and graphics using GIS and other visualization tools.
- Participate in field visits to observe traffic conditions and document site characteristics.
- Provide general project support, including coordination, scheduling, and proposal preparation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's program in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.
- Participation in a co-op or equivalent post-secondary program.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and proactive approach to work.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Term: Fall 2026 (4-8 month duration).
- Modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- Work environment involves a mix of sedentary office work and field visits, which may include exposure to inclement weather.
