Mechanical Engineering Student - Buildings (Fall 2026) – 12 Month Term

About the role#

Stantec is seeking a Mechanical Engineering student to join the Vancouver Buildings group for a 12-month term beginning in Fall 2026. This full-time position provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced practitioners on building-related projects.

What you'll do#

• Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
• Produce mechanical design drawings using REVIT and AutoCAD.
• Assist in the design of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Review equipment selections, perform preliminary engineering calculations, and develop preliminary designs.
• Communicate with team members and adhere to company drafting and production standards.

What you'll need#

• Currently working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering at a reputable Canadian university.
• Availability for a 12-month term.
• Ability to obtain Canadian government security clearance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD is an asset.
• Prior knowledge or experience with building mechanical systems is an asset.
