Junior Cost Controller – Summer 2026 Student

About the role#

Stantec is seeking a Junior Cost Controller for a full-time internship during the Summer 2026 term. Based in the Vancouver Buildings group, this role supports project teams with financial management, reporting, and cost control processes.

What you'll do#

• Prepare and maintain management plans, monitoring them to identify and address discrepancies.
• Assist the project team with budget and forecast management to ensure accurate reflection of project status.
• Support Senior Management with cost control reporting while maintaining company standards.
• Help develop detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) and cost breakdown structures (CBS) for projects.
• Generate project status reports for internal management and clients, including dashboards and performance metrics like Earned Value, SPI, and CPI.
• Provide support for general project financial analytics.

What you'll need#

• Currently working towards a degree in Business Administration or Finance.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI is considered an asset.
