Geotechnical Co-op Student

About the role#

Stantec is seeking a Geotechnical Co-op Student to join the Energy and Resources team in Vancouver, BC. This is a full-time, 4-month position for the Fall 2026 term. You will work alongside experienced practitioners to support mining geotechnical projects and gain hands-on experience in the field and office.

What you'll do#

• Provide general support to engineers within the mining geotechnical group.
• Apply civil engineering concepts to assist with project work.
• Perform geotechnical engineering calculations, field work, and prepare basic reports.
• Use Microsoft Word, Excel, GeoStudio, and AutoCAD Civil 3D to assist with the preparation of drawings.
• Conduct research and due diligence to provide background information for new projects.
• Assist with contract administration, proposal preparation, and obtaining quotes.

What you'll need#

• Completion of at least 1st year (2 full terms) in an accredited Canadian engineering program (Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical).
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for working in a multi-disciplined team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
• Prior experience working effectively in a team environment.
• A valid driver’s license.
• A willingness to prioritize health and safety culture.
