About the role#
This Civil Engineering Co-op position supports the Community Development Group in the Waterloo Region. You will focus on inspection and contract administration for land development projects, working alongside experienced practitioners to gain hands-on field and office experience. This role requires local travel within the region.
What you'll do#
- Inspect construction activities, site layouts, and designs.
- Prepare and assist with contract correspondence, specifications, and project documents.
- Handle general site contract administration, including daily and weekly reporting, tracking quantities, and compiling payment certificates.
- Coordinate with design teams, contractors, developers, and the public.
- Identify maintenance deficiencies in the field and coordinate repairs and city approvals.
- Conduct and assist with site surveying and inspection activities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited civil engineering program.
- Previous exposure to construction activities and resident construction review.
- Ability to read and interpret construction and legal drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.
- A valid Ontario Driver’s Permit and access to your own vehicle.
