Building Science Co-op Student - Fall 2026

About the role#

Stantec is seeking a Building Science Co-op Student to join the Building Specialty Services team in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a full-time, paid position for a minimum 4-month term starting in September 2026. The role involves a mix of office-based design and administrative work, as well as field-based site visits and testing.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the development of design documents, including drafting drawings and editing technical specifications.
• Review and evaluate existing building envelope components for assessment and investigation projects.
• Participate in field verification testing, such as window testing and thermography, and draft associated reports.
• Prepare technical reports and assist with site visits at active construction projects.
• Support project administration by formatting reports, managing data files, drafting proposals, and handling project correspondence.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture, with at least two years of undergraduate coursework completed.
• A basic understanding of building construction, specifically regarding the building envelope.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Familiarity with Building Codes (Part 5 and 9) and related standards is preferred.
