Bridges/Structural Co-op Student

About the role#

Stantec is seeking a Bridges/Structural Co-op Student for the Fall 2026 term in Ottawa. This role supports the structural engineering group on provincial and municipal transportation projects, including highways and interchanges. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside practitioners on preliminary and detail design projects.

What you'll do#

• Assist in bridge inspections and the completion of associated reporting.
• Support the preparation of engineering drawings and plans using industry-standard drafting principles.
• Contribute to the preliminary and detail design of bridge improvement projects.
• Collaborate directly with the structural engineering group.
• Engage in real-world engineering tasks to build practical skills.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of transportation engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Inroads, or OpenRoads.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous co-op or summer work experience is considered an asset.
