About the role#
Stantec is looking for an Articling Student to join our Ontario Geomatics practice. This position is for someone interested in land development, construction, and legal land matters. You will work under the supervision of an experienced Ontario Land Surveyor to gain field, office, and professional experience while pursuing your professional designation.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Principal with surveying activities while learning legislation, legal requirements, and evidence assessment.
- Perform work as a Party Chief to develop proficiency in the 14 Cadastral Core Competencies.
- Conduct legal, topographic, bathymetric, earthworks, and civil construction as-built surveys.
- Prepare and maintain field notes, sketches, maps, and reports of survey data.
- Consult and share survey data with engineering, QA/QC, and contract personnel.
- Engage with your Articling Principal to develop core competencies like project management and client liaison.
- Complete project reports and examinations required by the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors.
What you'll need#
- Eligibility to enter into articles with an Ontario Land Surveyor under the AOLS Articling Student Contract, including a CBEPS Certificate of Completion.
- A degree or diploma in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying, or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- A valid vehicle operator license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Proficiency with survey equipment such as 3D laser scanners, GPS, drones, and total stations.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Motivation to engage with the AOLS Articling Process to become an Ontario Land Surveyor.
