The Criminal Justice & Drug Policy Analyst will support reforms aimed at reframing the landscape of criminal justice and drug policy. The position focuses on producing data-driven research and policy analysis to help allocate public resources more effectively, promote harm reduction, and minimize unnecessary police encounters. This role is part of the Koch Associate Program, which includes a commitment to experiential learning.
What you'll do#
- Analyze proposed policy changes and report on benefits, drawbacks, and key findings.
- Collect and share data to support legislative testimony, briefings, public speaking, events, and media appearances.
- Research and summarize state and federal laws to assist with policy implementation efforts.
- Write commentary and blog posts for Reason.org and other outlets.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may include occasional travel.
What you'll need#
- An entrepreneurial mindset and high level of resourcefulness.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-experts.
- Working knowledge of state legislative processes and practices.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn the nuances of policy.
- Ability to work effectively across the political aisle with diverse stakeholders.
- Curiosity, self-motivation, and alignment with the mission to advance a free society through libertarian principles.
