The Tech Policy Analyst will collaborate with Reason Foundation policy teams to produce research addressing technology policy issues that intersect with areas such as transportation, education, regulation, government finance, and transparency. This role involves working virtually to conduct quantitative analysis, evaluate research questions, and draft policy commentaries. Key focus areas include municipal broadband, mobility as a service regulations, online education, government IT systems management, and telecommunications.
What you'll do#
- Produce policy research, commentaries, and written products addressing key technology policy issues.
- Identify value-added policy projects through an entrepreneurial approach with existing teams.
- Conduct research on federal, state, and local technology policy.
- Support team members in engaging with elected officials, government managers, and stakeholders to implement technology policy changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-experts.
- Curiosity and self-motivation to learn new subjects.
- A working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly learn, data analysis and visualization tools such as R, Shiny Apps, and Tableau.
- General alignment with the Reason Foundation’s mission to advance a free society through libertarian principles, including individual liberty, free markets, and the rule of law.
- Pursuit of a degree in Political Science, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, or Public Health.
