The Privatization and Government Finance Policy Analyst will collaborate with Reason Foundation policy teams to conduct research on government finance and privatization issues. This role focuses on analyzing revenue, spending, and debt levels at federal, state, and local levels. You will contribute to projects involving public-private partnerships, asset management, and contracting out services, while producing analysis and commentary to support policy change.
What you'll do#
- Produce policy research, commentaries, and written products addressing privatization and government finance.
- Identify value-added policy projects in collaboration with existing teams.
- Research federal, state, and local government finance issues.
- Support team members in engaging with elected officials, government managers, and stakeholders to implement financial policy changes.
- Travel and attend a few conferences per year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-experts.
- Curiosity and self-motivation to solve difficult technical problems and learn new skills.
- Working knowledge of state legislative processes and practices.
- Preferred: Working knowledge of or ability to rapidly learn data analysis and visualization applications, such as R, Shiny Apps, and Tableau.
- General alignment with the mission of the Reason Foundation to advance a free society through libertarian principles.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in Economics, Political Science, or Finance.
