Transportation Policy Analyst

About the role#

The Transportation Policy Analyst will support the transportation team by providing research and data-driven analysis to inform policy efforts. This role focuses on state and local transportation operations, including funding, finance, and regulatory policy. You will contribute to the team's objective of advancing transportation systems that align with free-market principles.

What you'll do#

• Research and summarize state and local transportation policies to support ongoing implementation efforts.
• Write policy studies, briefs, op-eds, and commentaries for publication.
• Compile and analyze datasets and communicate findings to team members and stakeholders.
• Track legislative reform efforts across various states and prepare regular reports.
• Maintain records of team outputs, including legislative meetings and written deliverables.

What you'll need#

• Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-experts.
• Working knowledge of state legislative processes and practices.
• Curiosity and self-motivation to solve difficult technical problems and learn new skills.
• Preference for candidates with working knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools such as R, Shiny Apps, and Tableau.
• Academic background in Political Science, Economics, or Data Science.
