The Education Policy Analyst role is a one-year, full-time, paid fellowship position within the Reason Foundation. This role supports the education team by providing policy research and data-driven analysis to advance school finance reform. The position is part of the Koch Associate Program and allows for remote work within the United States.
What you'll do#
- Research and summarize state education finance laws, including appropriations, budget bills, and taxation practices.
- Compile, clean, and analyze complex datasets to support policy research.
- Track legislative reform efforts across various states and produce regular reports.
- Assist the quantitative analyst with data projects, including statistical analysis and visualizations.
- Write commentary, policy memos, and blog posts for Reason.org and other outlets.
- Track and record team outputs, such as legislative meetings and published columns.
What you'll need#
- Strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel, including experience combining and modeling datasets.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-experts.
- Curiosity and self-motivation to tackle difficult technical problems.
- General alignment with the Reason Foundation’s mission to advance libertarian principles, including individual liberty, free markets, and the rule of law.
- While not required, knowledge of statistical analysis and programming languages such as R is preferred.
- Relevant academic background in fields such as Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Public Health, Business Administration, or Communications.

- Location: Washington, DC (Remote work available).
- Commitment: Full-time, one-year fellowship.
