About the role#
SSR Mining Inc. offers a summer internship program for students pursuing degrees in mining. This role is based at the Marigold mining operation in Valmy, Nevada. You will work on large scale open pit run-of-mine heap leach mining operations. The program provides exposure to engineering projects and technical teams to help you prepare for your career.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate mining, mechanical, and civil engineering projects, including developing scopes of work, cost estimates, and project packages.
- Evaluate current systems and processes to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
- Participate in the full project lifecycle, from budgeting and engineering to construction, quality control, and implementation.
- Develop projects that use new technology to improve safety, cost controls, and environmental protection.
- Collaborate with operating and maintenance departments on problem solving and the implementation of new technology.
- Work in areas such as Long Range Planning, Short Range Planning, Ore Control, Surveying, Technical Support, or Geology.
- Encourage teamwork and positive employee relations across the department.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at the sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate level.
- A major in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and organizational abilities.
