About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience with open pit run-of-mine heap leach mining operations. You will work directly with our geology team to support exploration and development drilling programs. This is a full-time position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist with exploration activities and development drilling programs at the mine site.
- Collect rock samples within pre-established grids and use handheld GPS receivers.
- Catalog and plot sampling data, then use GIS software to interpret and present results.
- Log drill cuttings and core samples while assisting in core processing.
- Perform basic geologic mapping of pits, highwalls, and road cuts.
- Interpret mineralization and geologic contacts on sections and plans.
- Learn QA/QC procedures from sample collection through laboratory database entry.
- Develop and present a final project report to site management.
- Adhere to all site safety policies and best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time Junior, Senior, or graduate student in Geology or a closely related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and organizational abilities.
