About the role#
The Industrial Hygiene Intern supports the Safety, Health, and Security Manager at the Marigold Mine. This role provides occupational health sampling, training, and guidance to site personnel. You will work four 10-hour shifts, which may include occasional weekends, holidays, or night shifts. This is a temporary, full-time position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Industrial Hygiene team with site initiatives and sampling strategies.
- Coordinate sampling across the site and help implement engineering controls.
- Support MSHA inspections and sampling efforts.
- Update physical demands analyses and health risk assessments.
- Handle sample shipments, data entry, and statistical analysis.
- Notify employees of sampling results.
- Conduct new hire health training and assist with division toolbox sessions.
- Maintain sampling supply stocks and ensure equipment calibration.
- Perform health, noise, and biological sampling as needed.
- Audit the effectiveness of existing health exposure controls.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s degree program for Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
- Minimum classification as an incoming Junior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to complete a minimum 10-week internship.
- Exposure to conducting industrial hygiene sampling for dust, silica, noise, metal fumes, and mercury.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to large groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft computer systems.
- Valid driver's license and minimum age of 18.
- Ergonomic experience is preferred.
- Maximum of two previous internships with Marigold.
