About the role#
Spire is hiring for a Construction Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. This is a paid, full-time position that offers exposure to operations within the natural gas industry. You will work on various engineering assignments and administrative tasks to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Communicate with construction foremen, civic inspectors, and other departments to track the status of jobs and projects.
- Coordinate with external parties, such as municipalities and engineering firms, to align company facilities with proposed developments.
- Prepare documentation for gas main and service work, including utility agreements.
- Attend pre-construction and utility meetings to negotiate with representatives from municipalities and engineering firms.
- Evaluate design and cost estimates for main and service work, review delivery pressures, and justify proposed projects.
- Research legacy asset information to update and reconcile company records and mapping.
- Participate in the All Inclusive Onboarding program and the Project Poster Symposium.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising junior, senior, or graduate student in the fall of 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- A cumulative 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work 35 to 40 hours per week during the summer.

- Location: Saint Louis, Missouri.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days at home).
- Term: Summer 2027.
