About the role#
As a Mechanical Intern at Spaceium, you will work directly with our engineering team on spacecraft hardware. This is a hands-on position where you contribute to the design, build, and testing of mechanisms, structures, and assemblies for our missions. You will collaborate across teams including electrical, software, and fluids to support our spacecraft systems.
What you'll do#
- Support mechanical design and CAD modeling for spacecraft components and assemblies.
- Design mechanisms, brackets, fixtures, and structural elements.
- Build and maintain test setups and ground support equipment.
- Assist with machining, fabrication, and 3D printing of parts.
- Support assembly, integration, and testing of mechanical hardware.
- Contribute to documentation, test reports, and design reviews.
- Assist with structural, thermal, and tolerance analysis.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, or Fusion 360.
- Basic understanding of statics, dynamics, materials, and manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience machining, 3D printing, or building and testing hardware.
- Experience with student design teams like rocketry, FSAE, or robotics is a plus.
- Familiarity with GD&T and design for manufacturability.
- Exposure to structural or thermal analysis.

- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time role.
- Note: Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones.
