About the role#
The Business Development Internship at Southwest Airlines is a full-time, 12-week program running from May 18 to August 8, 2027. You will work with the Direct Sales Team, which manages corporate travel partnerships and drives sales strategy. This is an on-site role based at our headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Prospect and qualify new business leads through cold calling and email campaigns.
- Schedule appointments and maintain relationships with leads for account managers.
- Document sales activities accurately in Salesforce.
- Meet or exceed weekly and monthly lead generation goals.
- Provide customer support to the Southwest Business team and our customers.
- Negotiate and implement corporate agreements, including the Rapid Rewards Business and Meetings programs.
- Participate in ad hoc sales projects, promotions, and planning.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
- Progress toward a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Professional Sales, Hospitality, or a related field.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age with a valid U.S. Social Security Number.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week during business hours.
- Preferred: Experience or interest in sales, cold calling, customer support, or Salesforce.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Southwest Business products and online corporate travel booking tools.
- Preferred: At least 3 semesters of school remaining after the internship ends.

- Pay: $21-$24 per hour, depending on degree progress.
