About the role#
Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company is hiring an Underwriting Intern to join our team in Jackson, Mississippi. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position with a rolling term. We are looking for students pursuing degrees in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Criminal Justice.
What you'll do#
- Process blocked pending renewals and resolve outstanding underwriting requirements.
- Review and validate policy documentation, such as vehicle photos and usage details.
- Identify and address undisclosed drivers.
- Update Review and Approve Activity descriptions to help expedite processing.
- Manage foreclosure and vacancy-related activities to ensure proper underwriting action.
- Support policy conversion accuracy and complete conversion renewal transactions.
- Upload underwriting quote documents.
- Monitor and resolve items on various lists.
- Prepare and issue legal notices and policy change letters.
- Review property inspections and take necessary action.
- Ensure all work complies with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot gaps in documentation.
- An understanding of policy transactions, renewals, rewrites, and conversions.
- Ability to interpret underwriting guidelines and risk indicators.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective written communication for documentation and customer correspondence.
