About the role#
We are looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team in Nashville. This role supports structural design, analysis, and construction documentation for projects including healthcare, education, commercial, and civic facilities. You will work under the guidance of project leads to apply industry standards and company policies.
What you'll do#
- Assist with structural design and analysis for building projects.
- Prepare drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Use engineering software and BIM tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Learn building codes, design standards, and industry best practices.
- Support team members with the execution of tasks on assigned projects.
- Document your work with accuracy and completeness.
- Attend team meetings, capture notes, and track action items to keep tasks moving.
- Participate in trainings, lunch-and-learns, and site walks.
- Communicate with supervisors and peers, ask questions, and escalate blockers early.
- Share insights from recent coursework or developments with the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering degree program with a structural emphasis or a related field.
- Interest in structural design and the built environment.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or structural analysis software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Understanding of theories and methodologies relevant to structural engineering.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow through on tasks.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A professional approach to collaboration within a team setting.
