About the role#
We are seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team in Memphis. You will work on various projects including healthcare, education, commercial, and civic facilities. This role provides direct exposure to structural design, analysis, and construction documentation while working alongside experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Assist with structural design and analysis for building projects.
- Support the preparation of drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Use engineering software and BIM tools like Revit and AutoCAD.
- Learn building codes, design standards, and industry best practices.
- Help team members prepare and execute tasks on assigned projects.
- Apply industry standards and company policies under the guidance of project leads.
- Document your work with accuracy and completeness.
- Attend team meetings, capture notes, and track action items to keep tasks moving.
- Seek opportunities to grow your skills and share insights from your coursework with the team.
- Participate in trainings, lunch-and-learn sessions, and site walks.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and peers, ask questions, and report blockers early.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering degree program with a structural emphasis or a related field.
- A genuine interest in structural design and the built environment.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or structural analysis software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of theories and methodologies relevant to the discipline.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, good judgment, and a professional approach to collaboration.
