About the role#
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is hiring a Plumbing Intern to join the team in Houston, Texas. This internship provides experience in plumbing systems design for healthcare, education, commercial, and sports projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals on facility and infrastructure challenges.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers in the design of plumbing systems for various facility types.
- Participate in site visits, design meetings, and internal project reviews.
- Prepare calculations, diagrams, and technical documentation using Revit.
- Conduct research to support engineering decisions and code compliance.
- Collaborate across disciplines in a team-focused environment.
- Gain familiarity with industry codes and standards including IPC, UPC, NFPA, and ASPE.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in building systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD tools is preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant theories and methodologies is preferred.
- Strong speech clarity and presentation skills are preferred.
- Ability to exercise judgment and decision-making with follow-through is preferred.
- Professionalism and positive interpersonal collaboration skills are preferred.
