About the role#
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is hiring a Plumbing Intern to work in our Memphis office. This is a full-time, paid position that offers hands-on experience with plumbing systems design. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects across healthcare, education, sports, and entertainment sectors.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with the design of plumbing systems for various facility types.
- Prepare technical documentation, diagrams, and calculations using Revit.
- Participate in site visits, internal project reviews, and design meetings.
- Research engineering decisions and ensure code compliance.
- Collaborate with other disciplines in a team environment.
- Learn industry codes and standards including IPC, UPC, NFPA, and ASPE.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related degree program.
- Interest in building systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, or other CAD tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Initiative to ask questions and learn.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Professionalism and the ability to work well within a team.
