About the role#
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is hiring a Plumbing Design Intern to join the team in Dallas. This internship provides experience in plumbing systems design for facility types including healthcare, education, sports, and entertainment projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects throughout the country.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with the design of plumbing systems.
- Participate in site visits, internal project reviews, and design meetings.
- Use Revit to prepare diagrams, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Research to support code compliance and engineering decisions.
- Collaborate with other disciplines in a team environment.
- Learn industry codes and standards such as IPC, UPC, NFPA, and ASPE.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in building systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD tools.
- Initiative and an eagerness to ask questions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate clearly through writing and speech.
- Professionalism and a focus on interpersonal collaboration.
- Understanding of theories and methodologies relevant to the discipline.
Location & details#
- Location: Dallas, Texas.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site role.
- Employment is on a rolling basis.
- Paid overtime is provided.
- A housing allowance is available for interns who do not reside near the office location.
