About the role#
This summer internship provides hands-on experience in civil site design, permitting, and construction documentation. You will work alongside licensed engineers and technical professionals on active projects. This is a full-time position based in Nashville, Tennessee.
What you'll do#
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare site layout plans, grading and drainage designs, and utility infrastructure.
- Assist with site investigations and the collection of field data.
- Help develop construction documents, technical reports, and permit applications.
- Perform basic calculations, quantity take-offs, and material estimates.
- Organize project files, drawings, and technical data.
- Participate in project team meetings, capture notes, and track action items.
- Apply industry standards and company policies under the guidance of project leads.
- Attend trainings, lunch-and-learns, and site walks to build practical skills.
- Communicate project status to supervisors and ask questions to resolve blockers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Completion of at least sophomore year by the internship start date.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Understanding of relevant engineering theories and methodologies.
- Professionalism, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
