About the role#
This is a paid internship based in Lexington, Kentucky. You will work with a fire protection contractor to learn how a specialty construction company operates. The position balances office tasks with time spent in the field. You will work directly with experienced tradespeople and office staff to support ongoing projects.
What you'll do#
- Support daily business and construction operations.
- Assist office teams with ongoing project tasks.
- Work alongside field personnel and skilled tradespeople.
- Help with project documentation, organization, and administrative needs.
- Track information and follow up on operational requirements.
- Visit active construction sites to gain firsthand exposure to the work.
- Assist with other projects as business needs arise.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or related educational program.
- Pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Operations, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Interest in construction, engineering, operations, or the skilled trades.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfort interacting with both office staff and field tradespeople.
- Ability to take initiative and learn new systems or processes.
- Availability to work 20 to 30 hours per week.
