About the role#
The Electrical Engineering Intern will assist in the design of electrical components to support the robotic control of firearms. You will work within a team environment alongside R&D designers, test technicians, and engineers. This is a full-time, on-site internship for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Process engineering design change orders.
- Assist with firmware and software development tasks using Linux, Bash, and Python.
- Perform tests, experiments, and analyze data to write detailed test reports.
- Participate in the testing and validation of electromechanical systems while troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Develop and run test scripts to automate processes and validate system functionality.
- Support the documentation of designs, test procedures, and configuration management.
- Perform hands-on rework and assembly of PCBAs, cables, and electromechanical systems.
- Manage prototype parts and products inventory.
- Engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration and continuous improvement activities, including 5S standards.
- Follow all ISO procedures, EH&S training requirements, security mandates, and safe firearm handling practices.
- Travel infrequently as required.
What you'll need#
- Current candidate for a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Basic proficiency in report creation and using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Basic proficiency using PCB design software to edit or create schematics.
- Familiarity with Integrated Design Environments for software and firmware development.
- Advanced coursework in digital design, programmable logic design, PCB layout, or motor control is preferred.
- Prior internship, co-op, or design project experience is preferred.
- Experience using and maintaining firearms is a plus.
