Intern Transportation Engineering Designer

About the role#

Sidara is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join the City Solutions Team in Chicago for the Summer 2026 term. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse infrastructure projects, including transportation studies, roadway design, and complete streets design. This is a full-time, paid internship.

What you'll do#

• Conduct research and gather data to support project objectives.
• Perform data analysis, mapping, and geospatial analysis.
• Create and develop maps, reports, presentations, and graphics.
• Draft and finalize detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Engage with the public and stakeholders to gather input and provide project updates.
• Contribute to problem-solving efforts to address project-related issues.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Public Policy, Public Health, or Political Science.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with GIS mapping software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) is preferred.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and InDesign) is preferred.
