Intern Engineering Designer, Traffic/Civil

About the role#

TYLin is seeking an intern for a 4-month term to join the City Solutions team in Toronto. This role focuses on traffic and municipal engineering, providing support on various infrastructure projects.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the preparation of feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary or detailed designs for highways, roads, and intersections.
• Conduct area transportation studies, traffic operations and parking demand investigations, and site impact analyses.
• Perform engineering calculations for the design of municipal infrastructure, including roads, sewers, and watermains.
• Prepare grading, servicing, and erosion and sedimentation control plans.
• Develop sanitary and storm design sheets.
• Assist with the preparation of proposals, project schedules, contract specifications, and tender packages, including quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Support the permit and approval process and review residential plot plans.
• Provide regular progress status reports.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in civil or environmental engineering.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D, or ArcGIS is considered an asset.
• Prior experience in preparing transportation studies and functional servicing reports is a plus.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
