Intern Engineering Designer, Land Development

About the role#

This internship is a full-time opportunity for the Fall 2026 term based in Whitby, Ontario. As a member of the City Solutions Team, you will gain hands-on experience working on diverse municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, sewers, and water mains.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the preparation of proposals and project schedules.
• Prepare feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary or detailed designs for private and municipal infrastructure.
• Create full sets of civil engineering drawings, including grading, servicing, plans and profiles, and erosion and sedimentation control plans.
• Assist in preparing contract specifications and tender packages, including quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Support the permit and approval process required for construction.
• Provide regular progress status reports on assigned projects.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with Civil3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
