About the role#
This Electrician Co-op role supports the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical and instrumentation equipment at the Orangeburg plant. You will combine your classroom learning with supervised hands-on experience while following plant procedures, work permits, engineering standards, and equipment documentation.
What you'll do#
- Apply technical skills from your coursework, the E&I Maintenance Technician progression program, and supervised training.
- Follow Safe Work Permits, work orders, drawings, manuals, and engineering specifications.
- Keep the Foreman informed of work status, scope changes, barriers, and job completion.
- Document accurate work history and record time promptly and legibly.
- Communicate during shift handoffs and maintain a clean work area using 5S practices.
- Obtain and maintain authorization to operate a manlift and forklift.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator and Level A suit when assigned.
- Follow all plant safety policies and complete required monthly computer-based training.
- Understand requirements for hazardous-waste handling and shipping, including RCRA, DOT, and emergency procedures.
- Meet qualification requirements identified under 40 CFR 265.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in an undergraduate Electronics Engineering Technology program.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
