About the role#
This co-op position offers students in engineering or computer science fields the chance to gain work experience at a chemical production facility. You will work in a part-time capacity while completing your degree. Experienced engineers will mentor you on assignments ranging from small capital projects to daily operational support. You will also have the opportunity to shadow various site functions including production, logistics, lab, and maintenance.
What you'll do#
- Update AspenOne Process Explorer graphics and documentation.
- Convert existing OSI Pi calculations and reports using AspenCalc, SQL++, and reporting tools.
- Setup and test controls simulation systems and server virtualization.
- Learn control systems programming, including structured text, function blocks, sequential charts, and ladder logic.
- Update control systems diagrams and documents using AutoCAD or Visio.
- Maintain personal safety and the safety of others while adhering to EH&S regulations and engineering standards.
- Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and PHA/HAZOP studies.
- Complete all required safety training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree program.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
