About the role#
This is a part-time, hourly pharmacy student position located in Sherwood Park, Alberta. The role provides practical experience in a community pharmacy setting, designed to complement academic studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Administration, Nursing, or Public Health. You will work under a local Associate-Owner, gaining exposure to the daily operations of a retail pharmacy while developing professional skills in a real-world environment.
What you'll do#
- Greet and assist all customers who approach the pharmacy.
- Ensure all privacy requirements, including customer confidentiality and consent management, are strictly met.
- Maintain clear visibility and identification to the public while on duty.
- Enhance communication skills by interacting with patients, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare workers.
- Develop knowledge of over-the-counter (OTC) products, disease state management, drug therapy, and patient counseling.
- Gain hands-on experience in managing a retail pharmacy and understanding the evolving role of the community pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a relevant program such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Administration, Nursing, or Public Health.
- A strong commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience.
- Foundational knowledge of OTC products and disease state management.
- Developing patient counseling skills.
- An interest in learning the operational requirements of a retail pharmacy.
