About the role#
The Sherwin-Williams Management and Sales Internship is a paid, 10-12-week summer program based in Portland, Oregon. This full-time role provides hands-on experience in retail store operations, sales, and management. You will gain insight into outside sales by traveling with a Sales Representative and working directly with store leadership. You will also collaborate with other interns on a team-based project that addresses a real business challenge.
What you'll do#
- Provide friendly and professional assistance to customers in-store and over the phone.
- Support sales goals by recommending products and maintaining displays.
- Develop a strong understanding of store merchandise to assist with inventory management and restocking shelves.
- Assist with point-of-sale transactions, product preparation, and paint mixing.
- Help with unloading deliveries and organizing stockrooms.
- Participate in required training sessions and follow all store policies.
- Support team members in resolving basic customer concerns.
- Collaborate with fellow interns on a project to address a business challenge.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must be currently enrolled in a college or university.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
- Willingness to work all scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Internal candidates must have a meets expectations rating on their most recent performance appraisal and have completed all required HR Cloud eLearning courses.
- Preferred: Rising or current Junior or Senior status in college.
- Preferred: Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience in delivery, retail, or customer service.
- Preferred: Previous experience in a team-oriented setting.
- Preferred: Ability to read, write, and communicate in more than one language, specifically Spanish.
