About the role#
As an Applied AI & Automation Intern, you will design and build AI solutions for complex business challenges. You will work alongside AI engineers, data scientists, and business teams to take high-value use cases from problem definition through to working proofs of concept. This role contributes to our human-agentic operating model, where AI supports predictive insights, integrated decision support, exception management, and workflow automation.
What you'll do#
- Design, train, evaluate, and iterate on machine learning models for real-world business use cases.
- Build agentic AI solutions capable of reasoning, retrieving information, using tools, and orchestrating multi-step workflows.
- Develop data science and AI proofs of concept using Python, SQL, machine learning frameworks, and enterprise data.
- Create retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, tool-calling capabilities, multi-agent workflows, and context-aware AI applications.
- Perform data exploration, feature engineering, model experimentation, validation, and error analysis.

What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Graduation date in 2027 or 2028.
- Strong hands-on programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience building and evaluating machine learning or deep learning models.
- Experience developing applications with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, tool calling, or agentic frameworks.
- Strong curiosity, technical depth, and a willingness to experiment with emerging AI technologies.

- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 14 - August 20, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Full-time, 9-5 PM Pacific Standard Time.
- Compensation: $30.00 per hour.
- Eligibility: Must permanently reside and work in the U.S. Candidates must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation.
