About the role#
The Operator - Student provides operational support while gaining hands-on experience in oilfield waste management, oil treatment, and water injection operations. You will work alongside experienced Operators to learn facility processes, safe operating practices, and customer service requirements. This role offers exposure to the financial and business aspects of facility operations by working with management. This is a full-time position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of waste treatment, oil treatment, and water injection activities.
- Assist with seasonal requirements, including leachate management, stormwater pond management, and vegetation control.
- Provide operational support during employee vacation periods and times of increased workload.
- Help with truck unloading activities, including oil emulsion, water, and vacuum trucks, while completing associated documentation.
- Support water injection activities, filter changes, and basic pump maintenance.
- Assist with boiler operations, testing, and steam system activities as trained and authorized.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly plant inspections.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Procedures, permitting requirements, and hazard assessments.
- Perform general housekeeping and cleaning to maintain an organized facility.
- Interact professionally with customers.
- Participate in additional operational projects and assignments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary institution, specifically in Business Administration.
- High School Diploma, General Education Diploma, or equivalent.
- Valid and acceptable Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment testing.
- Valid and current safety certifications as required for the position.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established operating and safety procedures.
- Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Willingness to learn plant processes, equipment, and operating procedures.
- Ability to take direction, work under supervision, and progressively develop independence.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and meet the physical requirements of plant operations.
- Availability to work from May to August 2027.
- Ability to complete a Medical and/or Alcohol and Drug test if the role is considered safety-sensitive.
