About the role#
As an intern on our Engineering Sciences team, you will apply your classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. You will work alongside experienced engineers, scientists, and consultants to investigate why products, systems, or structures fail. This role involves projects across industries like energy, chemicals, automotive, and the built environment. You will gain practical consulting experience by supporting client projects from the initial investigation through to final reporting.
What you'll do#
- Support hands-on failure investigations and assist with field inspections, site visits, and laboratory testing.
- Compare real-world conditions against original designs, specifications, and project documents.
- Perform engineering calculations, research technical issues, and analyze data.
- Review, organize, and summarize project documents, photos, and test results.
- Draft clear, well-supported report sections and contribute to visuals, exhibits, and demonstratives.
- Analyze technical reports prepared by others to help develop supporting or rebuttal perspectives.
- Participate in team and client communications while building professional relationships.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Science/Architectural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2030.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Curiosity, analytical thinking, and a willingness to solve complex problems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
- Interest in pursuing PE credentials and additional language skills are considered a plus.
