About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to build career skills while contributing to science programming at Science North. You will help create meaningful experiences for children and families by exploring science through both Western and Indigenous perspectives. This is a paid, part-time position designed for those interested in education, community engagement, and leadership development.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the Indigenous Initiatives Steering Committee and the Indigenous Advisory Committee.
- Support the development of workshops and activities that incorporate Indigenous perspectives.
- Assist with youth science camps, after-school programs, and special events.
- Take part in career development, mentorship, skills training, and networking.
- Help create welcoming and inclusive learning experiences for children and families.
What you'll need#
- Membership in the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek or Wahnapitae First Nation.
- A commitment to part-time participation between October and June.
- An interest in science, education, community engagement, Indigenous knowledge, or youth programming.
- A desire to collaborate, share ideas, and develop communication and leadership skills.
- A dependable and enthusiastic approach to learning.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.
- The work is flexible, with most tasks completed remotely or on-site at Science North.
- Some program delivery activities require on-site presence.
- Schedules are developed collaboratively to accommodate your availability.
