About the role#
Schnabel Engineering is seeking a full-time intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position focuses on applying professional engineering principles to real-world projects under the supervision of senior staff. You will gain practical experience through a mix of office and field work.
What you'll do#
- Observe geotechnical subsurface exploration and perform infiltration testing.
- Conduct construction observation and materials testing at various sites.
- Perform laboratory testing.
- Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
- Assist engineers in the preparation of geotechnical proposals and reports.
- Travel as required for project needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
- A valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.

- This position is based in West Columbia, South Carolina.
- The role is on-site and full-time.
- The internship runs from May through August 2027.
