About the role#
Schnabel Engineering is looking for a full-time intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This role focuses on applying engineering principles to real-world projects under the guidance of senior staff. You will gain practical experience through a mix of office tasks and field work.
What you'll do#
- Perform geotechnical field work, including subsurface exploration and infiltration testing.
- Use GPS equipment to layout borings.
- Conduct construction observation and materials testing at various job sites.
- Complete laboratory testing to support project data.
- Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS software.
- Assist engineers with the preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program (other engineering or science programs may be considered).
- Strong oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team under supervision.
- Willingness to perform both office and outdoor field tasks.
- Physical ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Preference is given to junior, senior, and graduate students, or those with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Prior professional or internship experience in a related field is a plus.
