About the role#
The SAP.com Digital Platforms Team is looking for a Site Speed Performance Intern to help ensure fast experiences across desktop, mobile, and automated crawler environments. You will work as a technical liaison between SAP IT Development and global marketing stakeholders. This role focuses on data analysis and performance optimization rather than hands-on production development. You will help advance AI-assisted workflows by using large language models and Model Context Protocol integrations to improve testing, diagnostics, and reporting.
What you'll do#
- Conduct synthetic and real-user performance testing using Catchpoint and Akamai mPulse.
- Analyze Core Web Vitals and performance trends using Chrome UX Report and Grafana dashboards.
- Investigate front-end and rendering bottlenecks using Chrome DevTools.
- Monitor bot traffic, rendering usage, and crawler performance for SAP.com and SAP.cn.
- Analyze crawler errors, CDN routing, and robots.txt directives to reduce 404 responses.
- Use SAP-approved generative AI and MCP-enabled tools for test-script generation and diagnostic analysis.
- Review AI-generated findings and validate them against technical performance data.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and UX teams.
- Maintain performance documentation and internal knowledge resources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a coding academy, bootcamp, apprenticeship, associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or JD/PhD program.
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, and modern website rendering.
- Familiarity with or interest in learning browser developer tools like Chrome DevTools.
- Awareness of web performance concepts including Core Web Vitals, accessibility, and asset optimization.
- Curiosity about AI-assisted workflows, automated crawlers, and search technologies.
- Interest in learning AI systems such as large language models, retrieval systems, vector databases, and agentic orchestration.
- Familiarity with Figma for reviewing prototypes and design specs.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Firefly.
- Familiarity with Adobe Experience Cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for managing work and documentation.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.
